Twitch streamers are causing a lot of controversy with a new “meta” that sees them creating a loophole that allows them to be nude on camera. Twitch is one of the biggest platforms on the internet and it has spawned a new aspiration in a ton of people to become a full time content creator. This is a pretty difficult thing to pull off given how many other creators there are, it’s easy to get lost in the crowd and it’s difficult to standout. Even if you’re really entertaining, you still need viewers to come give you a chance and subsequently follow you/support you with subscriptions and donations. So, a lot of people have been sticking to “metas” to try and get a boost. This has ranged from watching movies/TV shows on stream to and now… getting naked.
Twitch Streamers Getting Nude in Controversial New Trend
Babe, wake up, a new Twitch meta just dropped. It’s been a wild December for Twitch. After streamers went viral filming themselves by zooming in on their chests, the platform changed its guidelines to allow for nudity for artistic purposes.
While the platform reverted its decision after the art category was overrun with and furry images, streamers took these new rules to begin streaming themselves with censor bars over their bras, giving the illusion that they were nude.
This change is in response to the rise of popular new topless streams, or “black bar” meta as they are also known, in which streamers would imply they are nude, but cover up any of the areas that would make them nude through the use of clever camera angles, framing, or just using black censor bars to cover their breasts or genitals. These streams were very controversial in the Twitch community and were tagged for “sexual themes,” although they didn’t actually breach Twitch’s attire policy in which the site forbids streamers to display nudity.
